Brief //
SPLAT is a holiday kids program organised by Artarmon Community Church (ACC) during the winter school break. A circus theme had been chosen for this year, and therefore the creative needed to reflect this. Marketing communications included a brochure and a poster.
Solution //
The inspiration for the creative came from viewing online archives of vintage circus advertisements. Vintage style slab-serif fonts were chosen as a result and typography became the focal point of the design. To give the creative a slightly modern edge, white space was used as the background and the colour palette was kept simple and slightly muted.
To keep printing costs down and to move away from the standard DL pamphlet, the brochure and poster were combined into a single collateral item. The finished brochure size was A6, but once you opened it up, it became an A3 poster.
Result //
The creative was such a huge success that ACC received a record number of applications and the program was fully booked out weeks in advance!
